FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Please Attend an Announcement and Q&A Opportunity at Wednesday Noon at Salish Park Tuesday, September 1 st , 2026 – CHILLIWACK – Tomorrow, the Trustees for Change Team will be starting the “Six Big Ideas” aspect of their campaign for Chilliwack School Board. Starting September 2nd and continuing until election week, trustee candidates will hold a weekly announcement, Q&A and media opportunity featuring one candidate explaining a key reform the team would like to implement if elected.
“While we will not be caucusing together, if elected, nor voting the same way on everything, there are key common positions we hold. As a group of independent-minded problem-solvers, we think that to renew and refocus our school system on the fundamentals, fresh ideas are needed. And we want to show voters that we will be ready, day one, after the election with constructive, innovative new policies, designed in Chilliwack, to meet our district’s specific needs,” stated Hugh Hamilton, candidate and licensed business coach.
“District school boards are the oldest form of local, independent democratic government in North America, dating all the way back to 1713. Over the past eight years, this board has been content to simply impose directives and policies from above on our community. The true job of a school trustee is bigger than that. School trustees are not meant to be mere clerks or bureaucrats but problem-solvers, thinkers and leaders,” added Barbara Bednarski, candidate and retired teacher.
