Cary Moore for Chilliwack School Trustee

Excellence In Education For SD33

Meet Cary Moore

Cary Moore is a long-time Chilliwack resident, husband, father, grandfather, and former foster parent running for School District 33 trustee. He is seeking election to restore a clear focus on strong academics, measurable learning outcomes, parental rights, and the distinction between genuine support for students and ideological activism.

Born in Hope and raised in Vernon, Cary has lived in Chilliwack since 1985. His wife was born and raised here and attended Strathcona Elementary in the 1970s. Over the past 35 years their family has sent more children through Strathcona than any other family in the district. Cary and his wife raised 64 foster children. They have two biological children, now in their thirties with families of their own, and adopted four of their foster kids: two brothers living with the lifelong effects of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder; a 14-year-old daughter with a rare brain condition, autism, dwarfism and significant cognitive challenges who communicates through basic sign language and gestures yet brings contagious energy and is a well-loved presence at Chilliwack Secondary; and their youngest, now ten and heading into Grade 6.

After graduation Cary went straight into business. He was part-owner of Valley Water, a local water-delivery company, and later owned Rocky Mountain Water Systems, which designed and installed water-purification plants across North America, Australia, Saudi Arabia and the Philippines. In those years he hired many young people right out of high school—his first real contact with the next generation entering the workforce. That experience shaped his conviction that education must be grounded in competence and merit, not ideology or identity checkboxes.

He later spent twenty years as a cabin-crew member with WestJet. When that chapter ended, he became a real-estate agent and finally had the schedule to engage more deeply at the school level. He joined the Strathcona PAC, was elected district PAC representative for the school, and soon after was elected to the DPAC executive as Indigenous representative. The steep learning curve opened his eyes to the real influence parents can have on policy and board direction. He is running because he believes that influence should be used to strengthen academics, protect parental rights, and ensure that students with special needs or difficult home circumstances receive practical, effective support rather than symbolic gestures.

Cary Moore Chilliwack

Cary introduces himself as Cary Moore first. He happens to be Métis from the Red River region. He is also a conservative with a strong faith, a father, a business owner, a surfer and a diver. None of these is the sum of who he is. He deliberately refuses to lead with identity politics. As the comedian George Carlin observed, when identity becomes ideology, disagreement feels like a personal attack and critical thinking shuts down. Cary teaches his own children the opposite:
keep the person primary and the labels secondary so ideas can still be examined honestly.

As someone who cares deeply for his Indigenous community, his hope for the next generation of Indigenous students is straightforward: that they move past any lingering victim mentality, develop real skills, and succeed on the strength of their own merit and character—earning respect through what they achieve rather than through status or targeted support.

Chilliwack families deserve a school board that treats education as the serious work of teaching children to read, write, calculate and think clearly. Cary Moore will work to put measurable academic achievement, parental authority, and common-sense support for students at the centre of district decisions.
